The Barn at Bentefarine
Fed by Pyreneen meltwater, the lake at Montbel (4kms) has two beaches, one sandy and the other pebbly, both with beach bar and pedalo hire. With its clean refreshing water, (also home to an organic trout farm), it is our favourite place to cool off in the Summer. The sandy beach has a lifeguard and plenty of shade during July and August which makes it ideal for families.

The Ariège, one of France's most unspoilt areas, is sparsely populated and steeped in tradition. With rugged countryside and a vast array of flora and fauna, it is a truly lovely place to visit. In Summer we enjoy an almost Mediterranean climate and cool off in the nearby rivers and lakes; One can eat out of doors almost every evening from mid-April until mid-September and lunch outside in winter is a regular occurrence.
There is loads to do; cycling, hiking, swimming, fishing, horse riding, kayaking & sailing are all in close proximity, or you can do nothing at all! only.
